Sometimes students notice warning signs before adults do. Knowing what to look for can make a difference.
A concerning social media post. A threat. Bullying or harassment. Someone talking about hurting themselves or someone else. Or simply a situation that doesn’t feel right.
Through Sandy Hook Promise’s Say Something program, students learn three important steps: recognize the warning signs, take them seriously, and say something.
Speaking up isn’t about getting someone in trouble. It’s about getting someone help. 💛

Mrs. Grissett's and Ms. Early's 7th-graders tackle multi-step, continuous problems using rational numbers, converting between forms as appropriate, and assessing the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies. ➕➖
Students worked together to create a model to estimate different temperatures across major US cities by adding and subtracting integers. They are now ready to use vertical and horizontal lines to solve authentic problems, showing addition and subtraction with rational numbers. 📝

At WCSD, the safety and well-being of our students remain at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to announce a new partnership with Sandy Hook Promise as part of our continued commitment to fostering safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environments.
As part of this initiative, we will soon launch the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System across our schools. This program empowers students to recognize warning signs, speak up, and help create a culture where everyone looks out for one another.
Parents and guardians, please be on the lookout for a letter coming home with your student that will provide additional information about the program. As we begin implementation, our counselors and school administrators will also provide students with guided lessons to help them understand how the system works and when and how to use it. We appreciate your continued support in keeping our schools safe, welcoming, and supportive for every student.

While learning about the Fit Georgia Assessment and how physical activity supports overall health, fitness, and well-being, students were challenged to demonstrate their understanding using a thinking map.
Collin, Madalyn, and Eden didn’t just complete the assignment—they raised the bar! Their work demonstrated high-level thinking, exceptional effort, and the ability to make meaningful connections between what they are learning and real-world health and fitness.

Teamwork is a skill our students will use far beyond the classroom! Today in Mr. Jones' math class, students put that skill to the test by working together to build the longest paper chain and/or make a sandwich, discovering that communication, collaboration, and perseverance are the keys to success.
