March Madness was in full swing at WCMS, and our students showed up strong in the Green Dot Challenge! Green dots are earned when students answer questions correctly on their assignments and assessments in Progress Learning, so this achievement reflects their hard work and commitment to learning.

โจ Seventh Grade: Alexandria Kennedy โ 41 green dots (17 ELA, 9 Math, 2 Science, 13 Social Studies)
โจ Eighth Grade: Darryl Hall โ 34 green dots (14 ELA, 9 Math, 5 Science, 6 Social Studies)
A special shoutout to Serenity Todd for being our overall school-wide winner!
We also celebrate Ms. Chesniya Larkin, whose seventh-grade ELA students earned an outstanding total of 575 green dots across her classes!
Lastly, congratulations to our school-wide class winner, Mr. Coatsโ homeroom, for earning an impressive total across all content areas (196 ELA, 114 Math, 27 Science, and 170 Social Studies)!

Thank you, Oconee RESA, for introducing us to the Lit, Love, Read campaign, a Georgia-based literacy initiative that ran from February 4th to March 6th, aimed at boosting students' reading skills through the joy of daily read-alouds. Each story read aloud deepens comprehension, strengthens connections, and fosters a lifelong love of reading. Thank you for reading aloud to us:
๐Mrs. Fowler
๐Ms. Qualls
Also, we would like to recognize the following 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for their participation in the Young Georgia Authors competition, also spearheaded by Oconee RESA.

๐Mia Smalley

Data digs, discovery, and departmental alignment were all part of todayโs leadership team agenda. A strong commitment to improving and increasing upcoming test scores across the board remained a top priority throughout the conversation.
Thank you, Dr. James and Dr. Rose-Brown, for your attendance and for providing valuable clarity to our leaders. The meeting concluded with clear action plans and next steps, leaving our administrators and teachers feeling inspired and determined.
