Math is all around us, and Dr. Williams and Mrs. Young are helping students see it!
Students pass this vending machine every day, but today they viewed it through a different lens as they explored how it can represent a function, with each input producing an output. As students work through Unit 2: Modeling Linear Relationships and Functions, experiences like this bring the standard to life by connecting mathematical concepts to the world students already know. This is what meaningful learning looks like when students move beyond simply learning math to recognizing and understanding the math happening all around them! ✅

UPDATE: The Wilkinson County Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, September 15. The meeting will be held at the same location and livestreamed beginning at 6:00 p.m. Please update your calendars!

This week, they've studied how molecules are arranged in solids, liquids, gases, and plasma, and the differences between conduction, convection, and radiation! After watching numerous demonstrations and examples, by the end of this module, they'll be able to confidently say, "I can identify and explain..." inserting each lesson they've explored.

Wilkinson County Schools would like to inform families that staff and students at our Elementary/Middle School campus briefly evacuated the building in response to a fire alarm.
After the campus was assessed, no fire, smoke, or other hazards were identified. All students and staff have safely reentered the building, and normal operations have resumed.
We appreciate our students and staff for responding appropriately and following established safety procedures.
