🍎 Science in Action! Ms. Little and Ms. Brown’s classes explored Apple Genetics, learning how selective breeding creates apples with traits like sweetness and color. Students analyzed traits, made predictions, and built creative 3D apple models to connect science to real life! 🍏🔬 #WCMS #BeingTheBrand #HandsOnLearning

✏️Ms. Franklin and Ms. Young are using a variety of engaging instructional strategies to help students identify an author’s bias and understand how it impacts the credibility of a text, while also exploring different perspectives on the same topic. ✏️Through tasks like “Strong Bias,” “Balanced but Distinct Viewpoint,” and “Two Texts on the Same Topic,” students are developing critical thinking skills as they analyze multiple sources. To close the lesson, students share one biased word or phrase from any task and explain how it affects the text’s credibility.

Assistant Principal May met with each homeroom class this month for a PBIS booster lesson. The focus for September was teaching students how to access PowerSchool to check their grades, attendance, and assessment data. Principal Choice had the pleasure of catching up with Tanner today for a Warrior Walk (Check & Connect)! 🌟 Tanner is an exceptional student who excels in the classroom. He has good attendance, excellent grades, and a positive attitude. When asked about his academic success, Tanner shared what he has learned over the years: ✅It's all about your mindset, you have to be willing to do what it takes to succeed. ✅Eat breakfast, you're not your best self when you're hungry. ✅Stay focused while in class. If students are being disruptive, let them know they need to be focused and help them get on task. When students are disruptive, they block everyone including themselves from learning. 📚Our eighth graders enjoyed a wonderful day of teaching and learning outside the classroom at Ocmulgee Mounds. They experienced Georgia Studies and geography firsthand through exploration and discovery.

💙Today in Dr. Scott's seventh grade Healthcare Science class, students got hands-on with DNA. During the mini-lesson, Dr. Scott reviewed DNA structure and demonstrated how to build a model using Twizzlers for the sugar-phosphate backbone, marshmallows for the nitrogen bases, and toothpicks for hydrogen bonds. 🍡 💛Students then worked in small groups to construct their own DNA models, label key parts, and share their creation with the class.
